Combat lines and wrinkles
Combat lines and wrinkles
At the Coast Clinic I am always on the look out for the most effective treatments to help to defy the visible effects of ageing. So you can imagine my surprise when I came accross the latest slimy trend in Japan.
Earlier this month it was reported that people there are forking out £165 for a facial treatment where live snails are applied to the skin.
Medical experts claim the sticky gel snails produce contains antioxidants that help the skin retain moisture, and remove dead cells. Live snails slither across the face, delivering antioxidants to the skin. The garden variety are not recommended due to contaminants. This facial is available only in Japan. So is it a farce or a fact? Chilean snail farmers noticed they had very smooth hands, and this sparked a skincare revolution. A study released this year showed that daily application of products containing snail slime improved fine lines. A 2007 clinical trial using snail gel on rats showed it was excellent for wound-healing.: Will it work? Well the slimy mucus will have a moisturising effect, if you could bear the snails crawling on your face for one hour!!
So what might work and is less freaky? Well there is a new facial treatment know as the ‘ Notox’. This alternative to botox has all of the wrinkle busting effects of Botox but without the nasty injections and toxins. Its a three step process.
Step 1: Microdermabrasion and LED Therapy
The treatment offers a revolutionary new orbital microdermabrasion system. It literally revolves. The dead skin is taken off by a gently abrasive rotating rubber tip which gently and vibrates and exfoliates your skin.
Compared with other types of micro-dermabrasion which use crystals that are sand-blasted across your skin, the Notox is not harsh and uncomfortable.
Red blue and yellow LED light therapy are also used. Red and yellow light are very healing and helps to regenerate the collagen and elastin production in the skin, and the blue light kills off bacteria.
Step 2: Oxygen Infusion
After 10-15 minutes, of micro-dermabrasion an have an oxygen infusion of serum is applied using pressurised oxygen to gently push the serum deep into the skin. There is a the Skin Brightening serum which gives you an even skin-tone and makes your skin look really radiant or an anti-ageing Rejuvenation serum which contain neuro-peptides which inhibit muscle contractions thus reducing the creation of lines and wrinkles.
And it really works, and it feels like your face muscles are immediately pulled tighter after the treatment.
Step 3: Hydro Mask and Spot Treatment
Finally is the Hydro-Mask which helps to cool and relaxing. It has serum underneath it so it really hydrates your skin on contact. A massage tip then goes over the mask to get the products to penetrate deep into your skin. At the same time I the LED light therapy can be used and is really good for treating spots, acne, and acne scarring.
The Notox facial costs between £50 and £100 depending on which serum you choose. However it is only available within specialist skin and rejuvenation clinics as the treatment can only be undertaken by a specialist skin technician.
Good luck. For more information contact Kat at The Coast Clinic.
